Once you have shin splints you must let your body heal. Rest and ice are the two keys to this. Additionally, anti-inflammatories and some foot and lower leg exercises will help the healing process, as well as, preventing them from returning. Custom Orthotics may also be in order to control the geometry of your foot as you walk and run. Physical therapy may also be in order, but that is not likely.
